This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 53.22

राजा वनान्तरेण अदर्शि एणीमृगाण यूथानि ।
दृष्ट्वान त्वरितत्वरितो वितने धनु सन्दहे क्षुरप्रा ॥ २२ ॥

rājā vanāntareṇa adarśi eṇīmṛgāṇa yūthāni |
dṛṣṭvāna tvaritatvarito vitane dhanu sandahe kṣuraprā || 22 ||

Within the forest the king espied troops of deer, and when he had seen them, he hurriedly drew his bow and fixed an arrow. (22)
