This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 53.12

मातापितॄषु वीरो उपस्थपेत्वा तीव्रं परिचरति ।
ब्रह्मचर्यं ब्रह्मचारि स्वयं ब्रह्मचारिव्रतं चरति ॥ १२ ॥

mātāpitṝṣu vīro upasthapetvā tīvraṃ paricarati |
brahmacaryaṃ brahmacāri svayaṃ brahmacārivrataṃ carati || 12 ||

He was a hero who tended his parents and devoutly cared for them. He lived a life of holiness, observing his vow of chastity. (12)
