This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 52.81

ततो कुला प्रव्रजितो हं न कामां अभिप्रार्थये ।
प्रहाणाय गमिष्यामि वेश्मं मुक्ता रतनामयं ॥ ८१ ॥

tato kulā pravrajito haṃ na kāmāṃ abhiprārthaye |
prahāṇāya gamiṣyāmi veśmaṃ muktā ratanāmayaṃ || 81 ||

“But I went away from my home, going not to seek pleasures but to renounce them and leave my rich home.” (81)
