This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 52.69

ततो तं संदिशिता दूता पृष्ठतो अनुबन्धिषु ।
गमिष्यति कहिं भिक्षुः कहिं वासम् उपेष्यति ॥ ६९ ॥

tato taṃ saṃdiśitā dūtā pṛṣṭhato anubandhiṣu |
gamiṣyati kahiṃ bhikṣuḥ kahiṃ vāsam upeṣyati || 69 ||

And the messengers so enjoined followed behind on his trail to see whither the monk would go, to what home he would make his way. (69)
