This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 52.68

उत्क्षिप्तचक्षुर् मेधावी नायम् ऊनकुलोदितो ।
राजदूतानुबन्धन्तु कहिं वासम् उपेष्यति ॥ ६८ ॥

utkṣiptacakṣur medhāvī nāyam ūnakulodito |
rājadūtānubandhantu kahiṃ vāsam upeṣyati || 68 ||

“Thoughtful, with his uplifted gaze, he is not born of an ignoble family. Let royal messengers follow on his trail to see to what abode he goes.” (68)
