This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 52.46

समुद्र इव गम्भीरो वीर्यवा हिमवान् इव ।
शाक्यराजसुतं दृष्ट्वा महर्षि विस्मितो अभूत् ॥ ४६ ॥

samudra iva gambhīro vīryavā himavān iva |
śākyarājasutaṃ dṛṣṭvā maharṣi vismito abhūt || 46 ||

When the sage, profound as ocean and mighty as the Himalayas, saw the son of the Shakyan king, he wondered (46)
