by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 52.15

काचित् ते रुचिरं शब्दं मुंचन्त्य् अंगेहि सर्वशो ॥ १५ ॥

kācic ca upanṛtyanti saṃgītasmiṃ suvādite |
kācit te ruciraṃ śabdaṃ muṃcanty aṃgehi sarvaśo || 15 ||

Others, all over the place, make gentle noise with their hands and feet. From the hair of others are wafted divine scents. (15)
