This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 49.49

अभिनिष्क्रम महावीर अभिनिष्क्रम महामुने ।
सर्वलोकस्य अर्थाये बुध्याहि अमृतं पदं ॥ ४९ ॥

abhiniṣkrama mahāvīra abhiniṣkrama mahāmune |
sarvalokasya arthāye budhyāhi amṛtaṃ padaṃ || 49 ||

Go forth from home, O great hero, go forth, great sage. For the sake of the whole world, awaken to the immortal Way. (49)
