This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 49.4

नित्यान्तरेण मनसा कृतमोक्षबुद्धिः ।
मार्गं व ताव मम पुत्र चर प्रसीद जीवामि यावद् अहं याव च सा इहैव ।
किंकारणं तव विनिर्गमनं निशाम्य तत्वं विनाशम् उपयास्यति मे शरीरं ॥ ४ ॥

nityāntareṇa manasā kṛtamokṣabuddhiḥ |
mārgaṃ va tāva mama putra cara prasīda jīvāmi yāvad ahaṃ yāva ca sā ihaiva |
kiṃkāraṇaṃ tava vinirgamanaṃ niśāmya tatvaṃ vināśam upayāsyati me śarīraṃ || 4 ||

Meanwhile, with the thought of achieving deliverance constantly in mind, live the way your father lived, my son. and be content, as long I as live or as long as she, your mother, will live. For seeing you go away, of a surety I will die. (4)
