This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 48.14

ब्रह्मा अथ उपगमित्व इदं अवोच तां राहुलस्य जननीं शृणु मा विषीद ।
इष्टं फलं तव अयं सुपिनो महार्थो संपूर्यते चपलम् एव जनेहि प्रीतिं ॥ १४ ॥

brahmā atha upagamitva idaṃ avoca tāṃ rāhulasya jananīṃ śṛṇu mā viṣīda |
iṣṭaṃ phalaṃ tava ayaṃ supino mahārtho saṃpūryate capalam eva janehi prītiṃ || 14 ||

Then Brahma came and said to Rahula’s mother, “Listen, be not cast down. This significant dream portends the realisation of your wish. Quickly, therefore, recover your joy. (14)
