This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 48.3

atha lokapāla avacū manujapradhānaṃ mā bhāya bhūmipati saṃjanayāhi harṣaṃ |
hanta śṛṇohi phalaṃ yaṃ supinasya tatvaṃ samutthitaṃ bahujanasya vibodhanārthaṃ || 3 ||

Then the Guardians of the World said to the chief of men, “Fear not, O king, but be thrilled with joy. Come, hear what the true significance of your dream is. It means that one is arisen who will bring an awakening to the great multitude. (3)
