This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 44.15

शुष्कं इन्धनं वेणूहि करीरं तत्र सिध्यति ।
तेषां मासेन भोक्ष्यामि एष गंसामि वो गृहं ॥ १५ ॥

śuṣkaṃ indhanaṃ veṇūhi karīraṃ tatra sidhyati |
teṣāṃ māsena bhokṣyāmi eṣa gaṃsāmi vo gṛhaṃ || 15 ||

The shoots thrive on the bamboo though it is but dry wood. I shall eat of their flesh. Thus I’ll go to your house. (15)
