This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

शृणोम धर्मं असतां सतां च नो चापि धर्मं असतां रोचयाम ।
असतां हि त्वसतां रोचयामः तस्मा हि अस्माद् दहरो न मृय्यति ॥ ३ ॥

śṛṇoma dharmaṃ asatāṃ satāṃ ca no cāpi dharmaṃ asatāṃ rocayāma |
asatāṃ hi tvasatāṃ rocayāmaḥ tasmā hi asmād daharo na mṛyyati || 3 ||

We listen to the dharma of the bad and of the good, but we take no delight in the dharma of the bad. We ignore the bad and take delight in the good. Therefore it is that none of us dies young. (3)
