This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 37.34

शंखोपमं श्वेत-अतुल्यसन्निभं मनोज्ञगन्धं प्रियरूपदर्शनं ।
न दृष्टपूर्वं मय चक्षुषेदृशं का देवता किन् तु ददासिदं मम ॥ ३४ ॥

śaṃkhopamaṃ śveta-atulyasannibhaṃ manojñagandhaṃ priyarūpadarśanaṃ |
na dṛṣṭapūrvaṃ maya cakṣuṣedṛśaṃ kā devatā kin tu dadāsidaṃ mama || 34 ||

“Never before have my eyes beheld the like. White as a pearl is it, without compare, fragrant to smell and beautiful to gaze upon. What god are you and wherefore are you come?” (34)
