This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 37.25

शुचिं सुगन्धां त्रिदशेहि सत्कृतां सुपुष्पितां अमरवरेहि सेवितां ।
शाखां ददेन्सुर् नम अस्तु मारिष यथैव मो शक्र तथैव सो तुवं ॥ २५ ॥

śuciṃ sugandhāṃ tridaśehi satkṛtāṃ supuṣpitāṃ amaravarehi sevitāṃ |
śākhāṃ dadensur nama astu māriṣa yathaiva mo śakra tathaiva so tuvaṃ || 25 ||

“Give us this bough, worthy friend,” said they, “and you will be to us as Shakra himself is.” (25)
