This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 35.75

एवं उक्ते अवची असितो सितसाह्वयं इदम् अवोचत् ।
अश्रूणि प्रमार्जन्तो + + + + + + व्याकृतो ऋषिभिः ॥ ७५ ॥

evaṃ ukte avacī asito sitasāhvayaṃ idam avocat |
aśrūṇi pramārjanto + + + + + + vyākṛto ṛṣibhiḥ || 75 ||

When this had been said, Asita wiped away his tears and in reply spoke these words of good cheer; [“Not so”], said he, “has it been foretold by the seers. (75)
