This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 35.40

प्रेष्यशतयानकलिलं आर्यजनसमाकुलं शुचिसुगन्धं ।
प्रविशे भवनदुवारं प्राप्तो जटिलो न्यसंरोधं ॥ ४० ॥

preṣyaśatayānakalilaṃ āryajanasamākulaṃ śucisugandhaṃ |
praviśe bhavanaduvāraṃ prāpto jaṭilo nyasaṃrodhaṃ || 40 ||

The palace was crowded with servants and hundreds of carriages, full of nobles, and pervaded with a sweet fragrance, as the recluse reached the door unhindered. (40)
