This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 35.31

गर्भगृहाणी शुभानि च सन्ति विशदशंखहारकसंनिभा ।
विमलरविसंप्रकाशा द्योतन्ति कृता व चन्द्राणि ॥ ३१ ॥

garbhagṛhāṇī śubhāni ca santi viśadaśaṃkhahārakasaṃnibhā |
vimalaravisaṃprakāśā dyotanti kṛtā va candrāṇi || 31 ||

The inner apartments were fair like pellucid shells. They sparkled like brilliant little suns or like moon-shaped ornaments. (31)
