This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 35.24

ते चापि कुठारिहस्ता कृष्णाजिनसुकृतौत्तरासंगा ।
वल्कलचीरांबरधरा आदाय फलोदकम् आगमि ॥ २४ ॥

te cāpi kuṭhārihastā kṛṣṇājinasukṛtauttarāsaṃgā |
valkalacīrāṃbaradharā ādāya phalodakam āgami || 24 ||

They, carrying hatchets in their hands, wearing black robes of antelope skin and cloaks of black fibre, came bearing fruits and water. (24)
