This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 35.13

न विभान्ति चन्द्रसूर्या लवणजलो क्षुभ्यते असिततोयो ।
पद्मोत्तरीयपटला दृश्यन्ति कुसुमाकुलजलौघा ॥ १३ ॥

na vibhānti candrasūryā lavaṇajalo kṣubhyate asitatoyo |
padmottarīyapaṭalā dṛśyanti kusumākulajalaughā || 13 ||

“The moon and sun shine not and the dark-blue water of the ocean trembles; the flower-strewn waves look like an expanse of lotuses. (13)
