This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 34.183

ते कंचिद् एव कालं आगमयित्वा नराधिपम् अवोचत् ।
शृण्वतु भवान् प्रयोजनं यं अस्माकम् इह गमनाये ॥ १८३ ॥

te kaṃcid eva kālaṃ āgamayitvā narādhipam avocat |
śṛṇvatu bhavān prayojanaṃ yaṃ asmākam iha gamanāye || 183 ||

After waiting a while one of them addressed the king, saying, “Let your majesty hear what the cause of our coming hither is. (183)
