This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 34.126

जातमात्रो च विक्रमे सप्त विक्रमते भुवि ।
दिशां च प्रविलोकेति महाहासं च ऊहति ॥ १२६ ॥

jātamātro ca vikrame sapta vikramate bhuvi |
diśāṃ ca praviloketi mahāhāsaṃ ca ūhati || 126 ||

As soon as he is born he takes seven strides over the earth, surveys the regions of it and laughs a loud laugh. (126)
