This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 34.9

पश्यति विलोकयन्तो लोकं शुद्धोदनस्य ओरोधे ।
नारीं अमरवधुनिभां विद्युल्लतानिभां विय मायां ॥ ९ ॥

paśyati vilokayanto lokaṃ śuddhodanasya orodhe |
nārīṃ amaravadhunibhāṃ vidyullatānibhāṃ viya māyāṃ || 9 ||

As he contemplates the world, in Shuddhodana’s court he beholds Maya, a woman like the consort of an immortal, radiant as the lightning’s flash. (9)
