This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 30.49

अमृतपदं जिगीषुं नन्दजाता द्रुमसारं वरगन्धम् उत्तमं ।
लोचेत्वान कृतविकृतं तं अथ तेनैव पचेसि ओदनं ॥ ४९ ॥

amṛtapadaṃ jigīṣuṃ nandajātā drumasāraṃ varagandham uttamaṃ |
locetvāna kṛtavikṛtaṃ taṃ atha tenaiva pacesi odanaṃ || 49 ||

When she saw the complete transfiguration of him who was preparing to win the source of immortality, the best of trees of incomparable fragrance, Nanda’s daughter boiled him gruel of rice. (49)
