This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 30.41

तर्पणीया निर्वम्हणी सर्वदाहविनाशनी ।
नेलवर्णा सुखवर्णा बुद्धस्य सखिला गिरा ॥ ४१ ॥

tarpaṇīyā nirvamhaṇī sarvadāhavināśanī |
nelavarṇā sukhavarṇā buddhasya sakhilā girā || 41 ||

The Buddha’s kindly speech gives delight. It is not blustering, but destroys the fires of evil. It is faultless and pleasant. (41)
