by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 30.21

तम् एनम् अवदद् राजा तिष्ठन्तीं प्रांजलीकृतां ।
ब्राह्मणां मे तुवं भद्रे भोजापेहि अतन्द्रिता ॥ २१ ॥

tam enam avadad rājā tiṣṭhantīṃ prāṃjalīkṛtāṃ |
brāhmaṇāṃ me tuvaṃ bhadre bhojāpehi atandritā || 21 ||

And as she stood thus in respectful salutation, the king spoke to her and said, “Good daughter, I bid you feed the brahmans without wearying.” (21)
