by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 30.15

सा तं कर्मं करित्वान कल्याणं बुद्धवर्णितं ।
त्रायस्त्रिंशेषु देवेषु उपपद्यि ऽथ अप्सरा ॥ १५ ॥

sā taṃ karmaṃ karitvāna kalyāṇaṃ buddhavarṇitaṃ |
trāyastriṃśeṣu deveṣu upapadyi 'tha apsarā || 15 ||

After doing this lovely deed in the Buddha’s honour she passed away, and was reborn as an Apsaras among the devas of Trayastrimsha. (15)
