This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 27.72

अतीव सत्कृतो भवति पण्डितो अर्थचिन्तकः ।
वरान्यो च स्थापयति शूरां वीरां विचक्षणां ॥ ७२ ॥

atīva satkṛto bhavati paṇḍito arthacintakaḥ |
varānyo ca sthāpayati śūrāṃ vīrāṃ vicakṣaṇāṃ || 72 ||

“Exceeding great honour has the king who is wise and sensible, who appoints as his ministers men who are good, courageous, brave and discerning. (72)
