This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 27.62

कौशिको चापि पृच्छितो ते पृष्टा व्याकरेन्सु मे ।
राजधर्मं यथातथा त्वं दानि शुक पृच्छसि ॥ ६२ ॥

kauśiko cāpi pṛcchito te pṛṣṭā vyākarensu me |
rājadharmaṃ yathātathā tvaṃ dāni śuka pṛcchasi || 62 ||

“Now has the owl as well as the sharika been questioned and they have given their answers to me. Next I ask you, parrot, concerning the true duties of a king. (62)
