This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 27.39

तस्माद् अर्थस्य लाभार्थं लब्धस्य परिरक्षणे ।
दृढं कुर्यासि व्यायामं धर्मेण मनुजाधिप ॥ ३९ ॥

tasmād arthasya lābhārthaṃ labdhasya parirakṣaṇe |
dṛḍhaṃ kuryāsi vyāyāmaṃ dharmeṇa manujādhipa || 39 ||

“Therefore, O lord of men, to acquire wealth and conserve what you have gained make firm efforts within the bounds of righteousness. (39)
