This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 27.5

चिरस्य वत मां तातो राजधर्माणि पृच्छति ।
हन्त ते हं प्रवक्ष्यामि एकाग्रमनसो शृणु ॥ ५ ॥

cirasya vata māṃ tāto rājadharmāṇi pṛcchati |
hanta te haṃ pravakṣyāmi ekāgramanaso śṛṇu || 5 ||

“At long last my father asks me about the duties of a king. Come then, I’ll tell you, and do you listen with attentive mind. (5)
