This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 26.45

मया त्वं चोदितः सन्तो पूर्वां जातिम् अनुस्मरेत् ।
तस्मा ध्वजपताकां च श्वेतच्छत्रं च कारयेत् ॥ ४५ ॥

mayā tvaṃ coditaḥ santo pūrvāṃ jātim anusmaret |
tasmā dhvajapatākāṃ ca śvetacchatraṃ ca kārayet || 45 ||

“You, who have been urged by me to call to mind a previous birth. Therefore men should offer banner and flag and white canopy. (45)
