This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 26.31

विमलं छत्रं स्तूपस्मिं अधिरोपिय संचिते ।
अश्रूणि च प्रवर्तेन्तो पिता पुत्रम् अपूजयि ॥ ३१ ॥

vimalaṃ chatraṃ stūpasmiṃ adhiropiya saṃcite |
aśrūṇi ca pravartento pitā putram apūjayi || 31 ||

“When he had raised this spotless canopy over the lofty tope, the father shed tears and paid homage to his son. (31)
