This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 23.55

सुनेन्सु प्राणनयुतानि तिर्यग्योनिगता वणिजशतान ।
घोषेण दशबलस्य व्युत्थितो तदाहम् अपायेषु ॥ ५५ ॥

sunensu prāṇanayutāni tiryagyonigatā vaṇijaśatāna |
ghoṣeṇa daśabalasya vyutthito tadāham apāyeṣu || 55 ||

“Nayutas of beings reborn as beasts heard these five-hundred merchants, and through the sound of the Dashabala’s name I raised myself out of my state of woe. (55)
