This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 21.56

राजकुलं च कुमारे प्रविष्टे उवाच पुरोहितं नृपतिः ।
लक्षणविधिगुणकुशलां विप्रान् पर्येषथ शीघ्रं ॥ ५६ ॥

rājakulaṃ ca kumāre praviṣṭe uvāca purohitaṃ nṛpatiḥ |
lakṣaṇavidhiguṇakuśalāṃ viprān paryeṣatha śīghraṃ || 56 ||

When the child had entered the royal palace, the king bade his priest fetch at once the wise men who were skilled in the rules and significance of signs. (56)
