Mahavastu [sanskrit verses and english]

by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 20.92

अन्यं च दानि पश्यथ आश्चर्यं तस्या देवपर्षाये ।
ताव विपुलाये या कथा अभू परमहर्षसंजननी ॥ ९२ ॥

anyaṃ ca dāni paśyatha āścaryaṃ tasyā devaparṣāye |
tāva vipulāye yā kathā abhū paramaharṣasaṃjananī || 92 ||

And now behold another marvel, the marvel of the talk begetting the most perfect ecstasy, which there was among all that great concourse of devas. (92)
