This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 20.17

यं पि अभिभूय मरुगणं जम्बूनदपर्वतोपमप्रकाशो ।
उद्योतयसि दश दिशां सुरर्षभ इदं आश्चर्यं ॥ १७ ॥

yaṃ pi abhibhūya marugaṇaṃ jambūnadaparvatopamaprakāśo |
udyotayasi daśa diśāṃ surarṣabha idaṃ āścaryaṃ || 17 ||

“Marvellous is it, too, that, excelling the deva hosts and shining like a mountain of gold, O mighty Sura, thou illuminest the ten quarters of the world. (17)
