This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 20.12

सो तां निशाम्य जननीं आमन्त्रयते अमरां च्यविष्यामि ।
अन्तिमम् उपेष्यि वासं गर्भे मरुमानुषसुखार्थं ॥ १२ ॥

so tāṃ niśāmya jananīṃ āmantrayate amarāṃ cyaviṣyāmi |
antimam upeṣyi vāsaṃ garbhe marumānuṣasukhārthaṃ || 12 ||

Seeing in her his mother he says to the immortals, “I am passing hence. For the last time 1 take up my abode in a woman’s womb for the sake of devas and men.” (12)
