by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 18.5

बलं नवमं भवति परिशुद्धदिव्यनयना भवन्ति ।
सर्वक्लेशविनाशं प्राप्नोन्ति दशमं बलं भवति ॥ ५ ॥

balaṃ navamaṃ bhavati pariśuddhadivyanayanā bhavanti |
sarvakleśavināśaṃ prāpnonti daśamaṃ balaṃ bhavati || 5 ||

The Buddhas become endowed with the clear deva eye. This is the ninth power. They attain the destruction of all defiling lusts. This is the tenth power. (5)
