This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 14.4

एवं श्रुत्वा कुशो राजा भारियाम् इदम् अब्रवीत् ।
शृणोहि देवि जठरस्य वचनं ब्रूहि निश्चयं ॥ ४ ॥

evaṃ śrutvā kuśo rājā bhāriyām idam abravīt |
śṛṇohi devi jaṭharasya vacanaṃ brūhi niścayaṃ || 4 ||

When he heard this, King Kusha said to his wife, “Listen, my queen, to the words of fathara, and tell me what you think of them.” (4)
