by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 13.45

एवं एषा षष्ठी भूमिर् भवति तेषां गुणवराणां ।
हरिणपतीनां हितान महर्षिणां बोधिसत्वानाम् इति ॥ ४५ ॥

evaṃ eṣā ṣaṣṭhī bhūmir bhavati teṣāṃ guṇavarāṇāṃ |
hariṇapatīnāṃ hitāna maharṣiṇāṃ bodhisatvānām iti || 45 ||

Such, then, is the sixth bhumi of the virtuous lion-like Bodhisattvas, the benefactors of men, the great seers. (45)
