This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

एकषष्टिं त्रिसहस्राणि बुद्धक्षेत्रं परीक्षितं ।
अतो चतुर्गुणं ज्ञेयम् उपक्षेत्रं तथाविधं ॥ ५ ॥

ekaṣaṣṭiṃ trisahasrāṇi buddhakṣetraṃ parīkṣitaṃ |
ato caturguṇaṃ jñeyam upakṣetraṃ tathāvidhaṃ || 5 ||

“A Buddha’s field is proved to be sixty-one systems of three thousand worlds, and an upakshetra is to be understood as being four times this.” (5)
