This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 11.38

दुर्गेषु च विषमेषु च संक्रमम् अरिसूदनो प्रतिष्ठपिय ।
तेन खगपथेगामिं गजवररतनं + + + लभति ॥ ३८ ॥

durgeṣu ca viṣameṣu ca saṃkramam arisūdano pratiṣṭhapiya |
tena khagapathegāmiṃ gajavararatanaṃ + + + labhati || 38 ||

He destroys his foes, and thus makes safe the way in dangerous places. Thus does he win the fair treasure of the elephant that moves with the speed of a bird. (38)
