This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 7.65

वरुणं नाम वशिभूतं काश्यपो इदम् अब्रवीत् ।
अरतिदंशमशका मनुष्याणां निवर्तये ॥ ६५ ॥

varuṇaṃ nāma vaśibhūtaṃ kāśyapo idam abravīt |
aratidaṃśamaśakā manuṣyāṇāṃ nivartaye || 65 ||

To the holy man Varuna Kashyapa said, “Keep away from men baneful flies and gnats.” (65)
