by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 7.37

ते च ऋद्धिवशिभावबलस्था उद्गताः खगपथे जिनपुत्रा ।
तत्क्षणान्तर + + + प्रपलाना मानसं सरो यथा हंसयूथो ॥ ३७ ॥

te ca ṛddhivaśibhāvabalasthā udgatāḥ khagapathe jinaputrā |

Then, strong by their mastery of magic powerthose sons of the Conqueror instanteously rose up in the air, and flew like a flock of flamingoes on their way to lake Manasa. (37)
