ṛṣi mahābhāgo mahāmaitrīvihārī kāruṇiko / tasya bhavati // se kumārasya agamyaṃ deśaṃ gacchantasya śarīravināśo bhaveyā // so ṛṣi āha // kumāra imāṃ rātriṃ iha āśrame vītināmehi yāva iha uddeśe vānarā prativasanti / yo teṣāṃ yūthapati so mama abhiprasanno nityakālaṃ mama pādavanto āgacchati kṣudramadhusadṛśāni phalāni ādāya / tam ahaṃ vānararājaṃ adhyeṣiṣyaṃ / so tava drumasya kinnararājño niratiṃ nāma kinnaranagaraṃ neṣyati // kumāro ṛṣisya vacanena tahiṃ āśrame tāṃ rātriṃ sthito rātriye ca prabhātāye kumāro siṃhasya ca osarantasya śabdaṃ śṛṇvati / kumāro ṛṣikumārāṇāṃ pṛcchati / kasya eṣa osaraṇaśabdo // ṛṣikuṃāro āha // evaṃ vānarādhipatisya osarantasya śabdo nityaṃ eṣo iha velāye kṣudramadhusadṛśāni phalāni ādāya taṃ osaranto drumāt* drumaṃ saṃkramanto asmākam upādhyāyasya pādavanto āgacchati // tadāni kautūhaleva utthāya yato taṃ vānarasya osarantasya śabdaṃ tataḥ nidhyāyati // tena so vānararājā dṛṣṭo drumāto drumaṃ saṃkramanto āgacchanto // so vānararājā taṃ āśramam āgatvā kṣudramadhusadṛśāni phalāni ṛṣisya purato nikṣipitvā niṣaṇṇo // ṛṣi āha // vānararāja karohi me vyāpāraṃ // vānararājā āha // bhagavaṃ kariṣyāmi / āṇapehi // ṛṣi āha // imaṃ kumāraṃ ātmanā caturthaṃ drumasya kinnararājño niratiṃ nāma kinnaranagaraṃ tahiṃ tehi // vānaro āha // bhagavan nemi //
