snāpayati / sace dāni tatra snāyanto udakarākṣasena khajjeya purohito asṃākaṃ aparituṣṭo bhaveya kiṃ tumhehi udakahradāto na vārito // so dāni tena upādhyāyena dharmapālako māṇavako śabdāpito ucyati // atra udakahrade snāyāhi atra udakahrade rākṣaso dāruṇo prativasati / tena udakarākṣasena khajjiṣyasi // tatra ca udakahrade maheśākhyo nāgo prativasati mahāparivāro tasya ca nāgarājño putro dharmapālena māṇavakena sārdhaṃ prīṇayati kathāsamullāpena ramati / tena so māṇavako nāgabhavanāntaḥ tārito // tena māṇavakena sārdhaṃ so nāgakumāro kathāsamullāpena ramati tatra ca nāgabhavane dharmapālo māṇavako daśa kuśalāṃ karmapathāṃ deśayati // aparo ca māṇavako dharmapālasya samavayo sadṛśo ca grāmāntaraṃ tena mārgeṇa gacchanto tahiṃ udakahrade udake snāyate // so tena udakarākṣasena mārito tahiṃ udakahrade ardhakhāditako plavanto apareṇa māṇavakena dṛṣṭo // tena āśramaṃ gatvā upādhyāyasya ārocitaṃ dharmapālo udakarākṣasena khāyito ti // so brāhmaṇo sarvehi tehi paṃcahi vaṭukaśatehi sārdhaṃ taṃ udakahradaṃ gato paśyati ca taṃ māṇavakaṃ udakarākṣasena ardhakhāditakaṃ plavantaṃ / tehi taṃ dṛṣṭvā sarvehi rāvo mukto // tehi tato udakāto utkṣipitvā kāṣṭhāni samāvartayitvā dhyāyito // tāni asthīni ghaṭake kṛtvā saparivāro vārāṇasīṃ gato brahmāyusya mūle / aśrukaṇṭho rudanmukho brahmāyuṣya upasaṃkramitvā āha // sa dharmapālo udakarākṣasena mārito / ibhāni asthīni // brahmāyu brāhmaṇaṃ āha // nāsti etan ti dharmapālo daharo kumāro nāpi asmākaṃ kule daharā mṛtapūrvā // so dāni brahmāyur brāhmaṇo taṃ dharmapālasya upādhyāyaṃ gāthāya adhyabhāṣasi //
