Chapter 5 - Vividharaśminiḥ-saraṇa

Vividharaśminiḥ saraṇaṃ Pañcamaṃ Prakaraṇam
(Chapter Five named Vividharaśminiḥ Saraṇam)

Then Bodhisattva Sarvanīvaraṇaviṣkambhī asked the Bhagavat,

“what were the qualities of Bodhisattva Mahāsattva Avalokiteśvara that you heard the Tathāgata describe?”

The Bhagavat said,

“when all the Devas, Nāgas, Yakṣas, Gandharvas, Rākṣasas, Asuras, Marutas, Garuḍas, Gandharva Kiṃnaras, Mahoragas, and humans had gathered together, the Bhagavat śikhin looked at the great gathering and began to speak to the Dharma within that assembly. At that time, light rays of various colors emanated from the mouth of Bhagavat śikhin. They were blue, yellow, red, white, orange, and the color of crystal, of silver and of gold. They universally illuminated all the worlds of the ten directions, and then returned, circumambulated the Buddha three times, and went into his mouth.
