Chapter 11 - Drigung Chojay lineage (vi): dpal chen chos yes

[Full title: Drigung Chojay lineage (vi): dpal chen chos yes (nag tshang pa)]

Dpal chen chos yes: he heard the precepts from the Dharmasvāmin (of ‘bri khung), and for a long time acted as the latter’s domestic servant. Accompanied by gnyos and 'gar, he proceeded to tsa ri. At that time, he did not practise the Mantrayāna method which was common to both gnyos and ‘gar. On the advice of the Dharmasvāmin to practise the Mantrayāna method on the journey to tsa ri, he did so, and developed many extraordinary faculties.

He was also a disciple of rngog seng ge kha pa and composed several śāstras, such as the rin po che bzhi ‘gros and others. He became known at ‘bri khung as nag tshang pa.

Till the present day the distribution of alms in his name in tsa ri continues without interruption.
