Introduction:

It is with great pleasure; I am presenting this English version of Rasaratnasamuchchaya, a unique 13th century classic, which is a treasure house of minerals and metals, and their therapeutical usage.
To my knowledge, this is the first and the only translation available in English, of this text. Hence I am sure; this would certainly fulfil the demand of such a translation. Though, there are few Hindi versions available, they are being referred with considerable difficulty, especially in southern parts of India. The present translation helps in removing such a difficulty.
Rasaratna Samuchchaya, as said above is a unique text dealing with minerals and metals. Hence this would be of greater interest for the Indologists, historians, metallurgists and geologists, all over India and abroad.
I would like to thank my students and colleagues, who have helped me in this venture throughout the course of its inception to completion. I also thank the proprietors of Chaukhamba Sanskrit Pratishthan for presentation and timely publication.
I am sure, this English version of Rasaratnasamuchchaya, which is in your hands, would shed a new light on the study of minerals and metals in Ayurveda.
